Special Programs Instructor - Aztec Dancing
Raymond Ramirez
Bringing 24 years of dedicated teaching experience to the club, Raymond’s personal journey with Aztec dancing began in 1976, when he first discovered a lifelong passion for this traditional art form—one that continues to inspire his work today.
A defining feature of Raymond’s program is his hands-on approach to cultural expression. He personally designs and creates each student’s dance regalia, tailoring every outfit to individual size and personal preference. This customization fosters a strong sense of ownership and pride, empowering students to feel seen, valued, and confident in their participation.
The program is intentionally inclusive, welcoming youth from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Students consistently express enthusiasm and joy, while parents report meaningful growth in their children’s confidence—particularly among those who were previously more reserved in social settings. Through participation, students develop stronger connections with peers, adults, and the wider community.
Under Raymond’s leadership, Aztec dancing serves not only as an artistic discipline, but as a strategic platform for cultural appreciation, personal empowerment, and positive youth development.
